Your Essential Guide
Spring is here at last, and for many people it is the perfect time of year for a reset. You see this with spring cleaning and decluttering, but did you know that this is also the best time to give your car some care and attention as well? From cleaning it inside and out to perking it up with a fresh coat of car paint, here is why you should use the longer, milder spring days to your advantage.
Painting your car
Spring is a great time to paint your car! This is because the temperature is just right. Lots of people assume that you should only paint your car during the summer, but that isn’t true. When the temperature is too hot, your car paint can dry too quickly. This can lead to issues such as rough texture and a streaky finish. Too cold, on the other hand, and the paint can thicken, making it hard to spray. Spring is the perfect happy medium.
Cleaning
Just like you would spring clean your home, why not give your car a deep clean as well? Just like with car paint, the mild spring weather means that any cleaning products you apply to your car will not dry quickly and leave it looking streaky. Your car may also be looking a little worse for wear after all that the wet, muddy winter weather has thrown at it. So there’s no better time to clean it than right now.
Polishing and waxing
Polishing and waxing your car can feel like an unnecessary step, but if you have gone to all of the trouble of painting and cleaning it, it really is something that you shouldn’t skip. Car wax in particular doesn’t just make your car look its best, although that’s always a good thing. It actually forms a protective layer over the paint, helping to keep it in great condition even when it comes into contact with things like mud or bird droppings. You don’t even need to do it a lot, either; polishing is required around twice a year and waxing every 3-4 months.
The inside of your car
Don’t forget to give the interior of your car some love as well. Muddy shoes can leave their mark, and over the course of the winter, fallen leaves can accumulate, too. Give the seats and footwells a good vacuum and then wipe everything down with a microfibre cloth. Make sure to clean the windows as well! Spring is also a great time to declutter your car, so get everything out and decide what really needs to stay.
You’re all set
You’re now ready to breathe new life into your car this spring! Be sure to buy any paint or cleaning materials from a trusted retailer, so that you can get the best possible results.
